Lighthouse of Tragedy

$190.00 – $890.00

The Bustard Head Lighthouse is Queenslands second oldest light station.  Built in 1859 it was one of the first to be constructed using bolted prefabricated segments of cast iron.

Unfortunately, it has always been marked by tragedy.  A book ‘Lighthouse of Tragedy’ by Stuart Buchanan was published in 1999 which tells the tale of deaths related to the lighthouse.  The first being a workman suffering a blow to his head during construction, followed by shipwrecks, drownings, an abduction, a murder, a suicide and several other freak deaths.  I had the pleasure of a personalised tour by Stuart on my visit.  His passion for the lighthouse and its history is astounding.

This image was taken on the trip back from the gravesite on the lighthouse grounds.  Most visitors take the 1770 Larc (amphibious tours), to visit the lighthouse and its surrounds.  However being somewhat local, some close friends and I ventured across some rough seas on jet skies (which was an experience on its own), so we could explore on our own accord.  It was an enjoyable trip that filled us with an abundance of local history.

CANVAS

All canvas are printed on quality fine art canvas using Epson ultracrome inks.  The canvas is coated with laminate to protect from UV fading & dust build up.  Each canvas print is expertly hand stretched on custom cut Australian pine stretcher bar & finished off with plastic coated wire ready to hang.  These canvases are certainly made to stand the test of time.  Each canvas has a lifetime of 100+ years without fading.

FRAMED PRINTS

Metallic pearl fine art print paper is used for each framed print.  The highest standard of framing products & attention to detail are used during assembly.  Each print is mounted on acid free foam core & complemented with white acid free mat board.  Your choice of black or white frame is is included with glass.  Professionally finished on the back with a tape seal & plastic coated hanging wire.

PREMIUM ACRYLIC FACEMOUNTS

Every acrylic print starts with a fine art metallic pearl paper print, it is then expertly face-mounted onto a high grade polished sheet of 4.5mm thick acrylic, then finished with a Dibond aluminium composite panel of the back, so your print is safely secured in between.  Your acrylic print will come with a wooden frame on the back to achieve the floating effect.  You will have the choice of hanging wire or picture strips up to a meter in length, anything larger will come with a split baton system.

LUXE METAL PRINTS

ChromaLuxe metal prints are the perfect high-definition medium for displaying my photographic prints – and my personal favourite!  The prints are lightweight, durable, made with recycled material & 100% recyclable.  Every aluminium panel is fade, moisture, chemical & scratch resistant to make your print last a lifetime.  The panels are 1mm thin & come with an in-set wood frame attached to the back which will give an amazing floating effect.
